This year, Techsource Systems and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) are co-hosting MIDA TechTarik Session – "Machine Learning & IoT – The Driving Force of Industry 4.0" seminar focus will be more Machine Learning & IoT and how it is driving force of Industry 4.0 for Malaysian Manufacturing sectors, industries and related. We aim to have an interactive session where the participants will be able to pick up some tips and hear the concerns.

Topic 1 : Practical Industry 4.0 using MATLAB & Machine Learning

Speaker: Sameer M. Prabhu, Ph. D., Worldwide Industry Marketing Director, MathWorks

Synopsis:  

MathWorks Industry Director will present on the topic of common challenges of Industry 4.0, role of machine learning in Industry 4.0 and how MATLAB can help you achieve practical Industry 4.0 applications such as predictive maintenance, etc.

 

With the increasing popularity of AI, new frontiers are emerging in predictive maintenance and manufacturing decision science. However, there are many complexities associated with modelling plant assets, training predictive models for them, and deploying these models at scale, including:

  • Failure data, which can be difficult to obtain, but physical simulations can be used to create synthetic data with a variety of failure conditions.

  • High-frequency data from many sensors, where time-alignment makes it difficult to design a streaming architecture.

 

In this talk, you will learn how MATLAB helps you combine machine learning with traditional model-based and signal processing techniques to create hybrid approaches for predicting and isolating failures. You will also see built-in apps for extracting, visualizing, and ranking features from sensor data without writing any code. These features can then be used as condition indicators for fault classification and remaining useful life (RUL) algorithms. Finally, these algorithms can be deployed on embedded devices and enterprise IT/OT platforms.

Topic 2: Industry 4.0, Industrial Internet of Things and Digital Twins

This presentation covers how to develop and deploy MATLAB® algorithms and Simulink® models as digital twin and IoT components on assets, edge devices, or cloud for anomaly detection, control optimization, and other applications. It includes an introduction to how assets, edge, and OT/IT components are connected.  The talk features customer use cases starting from design to final operation, the underlying technology, and results 

Speaker Profile

Sameer M. Prabhu, Ph. D., Worldwide Industry Marketing Director, MathWorks

As the worldwide industry marketing director, Sameer manages a worldwide team of marketing managers who lead the effort to foster the adoption of MathWorks products for Technical Computing and Model-Based Design across vertical industries. 

He has over twenty-five years of experience applying MathWorks products in various application areas and, prior to joining MathWorks, Sameer has engaged in the research and development of complex control systems through his work at Visteon, Caterpillar, and Tata Motors. His efforts have been documented through United States patents and in global publications. 

Sameer has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mumbai and received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University, specializing in robotic controls and artificial intelligence. He also holds an MBA from the University of Michigan.
